From Village Roots to Visionary Leadership

I’m Sohel Babu, a self-made entrepreneur, educator, and changemaker whose journey began in the quiet village of Mohularai, nestled in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. Born on February 14, 1992, I grew up with limited means but limitless ambition. What began as a childhood shaped by hardship has evolved into a life dedicated to building opportunities—for myself and for others. Today, after over two decades of purposeful work, I lead the Saharai Group of Companies, a diversified enterprise committed to transforming lives through education, innovation, and financial inclusion.

A Dream Rooted in Education
Education was my first calling—and my greatest motivator. After completing my early schooling in Mohularai, I pursued higher studies in Hooghly, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, driven by a single goal: to one day establish an institution that would open doors for students from every walk of life. That dream came to life with the founding of Sahara Academy—an institution that started humbly and now proudly educates children across Birbhum, Bardhaman, and South 24 Parganas.

The journey from a small village to the leadership of a multifaceted enterprise hasn’t been easy—but it has been deeply fulfilling. I carry with me the lessons of my roots, the strength of my struggles, and a passion that has only grown with time.

Sohel Babu is not just a name—it’s a story of resilience, responsibility, and relentless pursuit of progress. Through the Saharai Group, I remain committed to helping others rise, just as I once dreamed for myself.

Sohel Babu is the founder and driving force behind Sahara Academy, a school dedicated to educating Indian children from diverse backgrounds. His vision is to provide quality education that is accessible, inclusive, and empowering. Sahara Academy offers a nurturing environment where students not only excel academically but also grow into responsible and confident individuals. With a strong focus on holistic development, the school combines modern teaching methods with strong moral and cultural values. Sohel’s mission is to bridge the educational gap in India, especially for children from rural and underprivileged areas, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

In addition to his work in education and business, Sohel Babu is a passionate sports enthusiast. He strongly believes in the power of sports to inspire, unite, and empower individuals — especially the youth. Driven by this belief, he actively works to connect rural communities with sports opportunities, providing resources, organizing events, and supporting local talent. Through various initiatives under the Saharai Group, he encourages children and young adults in underprivileged areas to participate in games and athletics, fostering discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence. His efforts aim not only to promote physical well-being but also to build a stronger, more connected generation through the spirit of sports.

Beyond his roles in education and entrepreneurship, Sohel Babu is deeply committed to humanitarian work, especially in supporting the underprivileged. He regularly organizes food distribution drives to help feed the unfortunate and poor, particularly in rural and underserved communities. His efforts are rooted in compassion and a strong sense of social responsibility. Through the Saharai Group’s outreach programs, he ensures that basic necessities like food and clean water reach those who need them most. Sohel believes that no one should go to bed hungry, and his ongoing initiatives reflect his dedication to creating a more caring and equitable society.

Sohel Babu also plays an active role in advocating for justice and equality as the Secretary of the World Human Rights Counsel. In this position, he works tirelessly to uphold and enforce human rights, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable communities. His responsibilities include addressing issues of social injustice, promoting awareness about individual rights, and collaborating with local and international bodies to protect the dignity and freedom of all individuals. Through his leadership, he strives to build a more just and inclusive society where every person is treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their background or circumstances.
